TOWING CAPACITY A vehicle's towing capacity is determined by the vehicle manufacturer whereby the vehicle's total and ball weight capacity are predermined. The ball weight is the weight applied directly on the Towball and the total towing capacity refers to the gross mass of the Trailer that the vehicle can tow. These details are outlined in your vehicle owners manual, however they are subject to change. Contact your vehicle manufactuer via their customer care, dealership or website to get any updates, amendments or conditions to the towing capacities of your vehicle. Aggreate Trailer Mass (ATM) The total laden mass of a trailer, which includes the towball weight and whatever you add as a payload (eg water, gas, luggage). The ATM is specified by the trailer manufacturer and must not be exceeded. Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) The total permissable mass which includes whatever your add as payload (ie water, gas, luggage) that can supported by the wheels of the trailer. The GTM is specified by the trailer manufacturer and must not be exceeded. Tare Mass The unladen mass of the trailer. |
Ball Weight The weight imposed on the rear of the tow vehicle's towball from the coupling of a trailer. Payload Payload is specified by the manufacturer.
